Hello folks. I'm taking part in a charity event this summer in which I'll be driving an old banger to Mongolia. I've been building the web site but I've been having some difficulties with it. I must be able to update the main page and I need to be able to do it in the ordinary way on my computer, but when I'm actually on the event I want to be able to update the web site via text message.
My original plan was to use WordPress, then updating the web site at home would be easy and when I was in the middle of nowhere I could use one of those sms2email services to email my server, which could then post it for me. I decided not to do this though as it seems to be very difficult to customise WordPress, you seem pretty much stuck with what your given and it looks very hard to integrate into my site.
My current plan is now to create an RSS feed, which could be displayed on my site. This raises the problem of text updates though. Treasuremytext provides an RSS feed from text messages, but you have to use their own RSS feed and I'd have to combine it with my own feed on the website. Is there any software out there that could take entries from the Treasuremytext RSS feed and put it into my own feed to make it act as one? As an alternative, is there any software that would work like WordPress? i.e. I email it and it adds to my RSS feed? Any help would be much appreciated!
