Google Loses Feedburner.jp Domain (The Latest Sign That Feedburner Is Dying) [marketingland.com]
Looking ahead, the Feedburner API is due to shut down a little more than a month from now — October 20, 2012. Google actually announced that change 16 months ago, in late May 2011.
Beyond Twitter and its blogs, Google also appears to have stopped offering customer support to Feedburner users.
If you were a Japanese user with a feed run though feedburner.jp you just lost everything when Google failed to renew this domain. No more feeds. No more stats. Nothing. There was no warning.
The Google API for Feedburner will shutdown October 20. Feedburner may still continue working, but for how long? Google isn't saying.
Like many webmasters I have used Feedburner for many of my sites' RSS feeds. I feel fortunate that I took the trouble to play with my DNS and offer my feeds through subdomains of my own. If I switch to another service my feed subscribers will never know...hopefully.
What are the alternatives?
