Page is a not externally linkable

and the little orange icon shows up in my browser address bar on *every* page. Does this matter (seo-wise)? Where's the best placement for this to appear to my visitors?
Currently, I have the RSS linked via: <link rel="alternate" title="RSS" href="http://example.com/feed.php" type="application/rss+xml">
Does it matter for any other reason?
