Maybe you could check out this explanation/history of RSS here [xml.com]. Then decide what you want to do with RSS whether it be publish your own feed or take other feeds to put content on your site(s). If you want to publish feeds, I would suggest the workshop/tutorial here [rssgov.com].

To find RSS feeds for your site, there are many feed directories and you will find links to them in this forum.
