Also the stickers on PCs that state "made for windows <insert version>" that are stuck onto where your wrist needs to go (and hence get placed on the dustbin every time I find them - seems like a good place to put it :) ) means they at least co-brand their stuff onto all buyers of hardware that's well capable of running linux, *BSD, ... yet as a users more often that not you'll be forced to pay the Microsoft tax for an OS you've no use for.

Those of you giving the Redmond behemoth their love now cause of perceived problems with Google: you aint seen nothing yet. Once MSFT feels they own you, you'll pay hundredfold. Just look at the past what they did with e.g. browses: we're still stuck with supporting "that browser" (IE6) thanks to them having so much market share they felt they could outright ignore standards.
