I am no fan of Microsoft or MSN but it seems like MSN is serious. For example, I had a site with 4 temporary pages for about 3 months; after adding about 100+ pages, I, on

April 11 - submitted to Zeal
April 16 - Accepted by Zeal
April 19 - Inktomi starts slurping my pages, done by 21th
April 21 - MSN displays 4 pages of mine in top 8, including the first position, for my main keyword; similar results for all other keywords.

In contrast,

~April 9 - submitted to DMOZ (after a few unsuccessful attempts and after some effort to find location)
April 20 - Google Deepbot did show up and ate my pages for 3 days - did seem inefficient somewhat.

Current status - Doubt DMOZ editor is going to do a thing. Last update in that category was on March 17th. Google is going to update the index sometime next month, we all can guess when. So I just wait and wait.

It seems to me like the IE and Netscape battle, once again.
