Office XP launched a few years ago with the ability to do voice entry.

So the development of voice recognition technology won't be just rolled out on the Search side of the business - expect to see it rolled into a variety of knowledge worker (Office etc) products.

Microsoft have an extensive usability lab where they test various ideas to see how the "great unwashed" use their products. I am sure the search group is using a lot of the lab's time right about now!
