I don't have time to manage individual bids on product ads. That's why I quit using AdWords; it took way too much time to manage effectively.
Following the instructions from Google, I was able to set up a global "product ad only" campaign and set a default budget and bid for it. It will cover my 40,000+ products - after a while, I'll see what's working, and what needs to be tweaked, and adjust accordingly.
I see this as a "separates the men from the boys" kind of thing. My industry is riddled with part-timers that are taking customers from me. I'm sure they haven't a clue how to set up Adwords, and are too cheap to pay - so more for me!
