the thing is most of my olddomain.com traffic comes to my homepage.. I am not redirecting that, because I will continue using it for another content.. just redirecting 700 pages (but definitely not the index)
If anyone comes following an incoming link, I will probably just place a banner letting visitors know, that content they were looking for is moved to newdomain.com
what I need to know: will my homepage lose it's ranking.. if not, that's great.. because the main index has got enough traffic and I will be happy to keep that..
all I will be doing is simple redirects like:
olddomain.com/oldpage.html to newdomain.com/folder/newpage.html
olddomain.com/oldpage2.html to newdomain.com/folder/newpage2.html
then remove olddomain.com/oldpage.html and olddomain.com/oldpage2.html and so on..
not touching olddomain.com(index) it will remain where it is because I will be installing a new script and create many new pages there as well (for a different content) like:
If I am not losing homepage traffic and PR of the index page that is awesome.. If I will be losing PR juice of index page just because I moved "700 other pages", then I can't do this..
I did redirects before, but never in a case where I don't want to lose PR that the index of olddomain.com has..
