Well, I didn't mean for that example to suggest that it would execute as soon as it hit the tag, but rather that you would store that configuration object and then when it came time to validate you would use those values to perform the validation, vs. looking in the HTML. My example would also be fired onload (or onDOMReady), but I didn't show that in the example.
