Dan, you can put the URL in your profile and refer people to that. You can also paste examples of code here.

I've been on message boards where URLs are allowed (including "please critique my site" type forums), and while this is often useful, I have to say that they often also have problems with spammers and other people who really just want to promote their own sites.

Even worse, people sometimes post a link to a rival's site ("please give me your thoughts") which is then duly rubbished by other posters. Webmaster looks at his stats, sees a lot of referrals to an internet bulletin board, checks in, gets annoyed, joins up and the flames begin. It's not pretty when that happens.

I guess the admins here err on the side of caution. ::shrug::
