Jake: "Yankee Zulu Alfa, Ready for Takeoff, Runway 25"

Tower: "Yankee Zulu Alfa, cleared for takeoff, left hand circuits"

Jake: Throttle to full, engine checks, plane accelerates

.... plane accelerates

Jake: Applies a bit of rudder to straighten the plane

Jake: Hits brakes accidentially instead of the rudder

Plane: I'm going off the runway now

.... plane hits 55 knots

Instructor: "I have control", grabs stick, rudders hard, and takes off. Looks at me.

Jake: "What was that?"

Instructor: "I dunno, check tires."

Jake: "Tires are fine. I wonder if I hit the brake instead of the rudder."

Instructor: "Yeah, probably. I already have students that I expect to do stupid things like that, you're usually pretty good so I wasn't expecting that."

Jake: "I have big feet."

Instructor: "Yeah, well keep them off the damned brakes when you're taking off."
