The shooter describes himself as an illusionist in the article, so it seems clear there will be some trick involved. That or the whole thing is a simple hoax.

Blaine is also an illusionist (not to mention "The World's Greatest Mystifier"). Although I think he must be in that box or it's the greatest stunt ever, I wouldn't be shocked if he was being smuggled some form of salt or nutrition, or maybe the occasional Playboy magazine.
