Hmm I have around 1200 in there, but haven't archived in quite some time... I have rules/folders for the important stuff - those get routed to the appropriate folder. The inbox is left with "new" stuff, newsletters and stuff that doesn't have a rule/folder. I tend to set up rules/folders for ongoing relationships - be they clients, groups I've joined, services etc. A quick glance can tell me what's going on.
