i've yet to meet a customer that only has amex
Well I have and as a matter or fact I was one of them about 20 years ago.
When I was young living in the KS/MO areas I made a good salary and paid cash for everything and somehow managed to get to the ripe old age of 30 without owning any credit cards nor, except for a couple of minor inconveniences, needing one. I always had a bank account and had checks and an ATM card from the bank so it wasn't an issue.
Then I moved to CA and I couldn't even open a checking account at Wells Fargo at the time unless I had a credit card. HUH?
Mind you I didn't have bad credit, I had no credit whatsoever on file because I didn't have any revolving charges, none. Visa and MC both said "NO" but Amex said "YES" probably because you have to pay off the bill in 30 days and they have a very limited exposure. Maybe a year later I had an Amex Optima card since I spent a lot on the card for business and paid it off rapidly and suddenly Visa and MC companies were stumbling all over themselves to give me a card and the next thing you know I've got 10 of the things.
I've also had co-workers over the years that either didn't have a CC other than the company Amex used for expense accounts or their personal cards were max's and it didn't matter anyway.
Point is you can never know why someone only has an Amex but some people also can't get an Amex so it should hardly be the only option but I wouldn't hide it or exclude it because some customers not seeing it may look elsewhere immediately just like I used to do.
