Our entire power grid is up for grabs. However everytime our government tries to pass laws granting them power to shore up our security all the Alabama Bunker Nutters start posting on their blogs that it's a tyrannical power grab by the government.
Geez, homeland security buys bullet proof street checkpoints and that gets questioned by the Bunker Nutters that it's going to be used against folks with conservative beliefs. Really? Seriously? There is a big industry in fanning these kinds of unrealistic fears, but that's a case of the fool and their money being parted. Several years ago a popular libertarian presidential candidate I won't name (:P) made upwards of a million dollars fanning fears of a coming race war. He subsequently disavowed the content of the newsletters although he didn't return any of the money earned from the newsletter subscriptions his organization had sold. It's truly shameful how some people resort to spreading false rumors in order to earn money off of ebooks, newsletters, bunker supplies and whatnot.
In the real world it's called being prudent, like what if terrorists target congress for an attack? Bullet proof checkpoints would come in handy BEFORE the attack. Buying those kinds of things to be prepared for an attack next time is too late.
Hopefully the government has approved a secret resolution to protect our energy and information infrastructure because it's not the kind of military and homeland defense action that should be publicly discussed anyway.
Iran has been the target of virus attacks shutting down their nuclear facilities. No one knows by what country although Israel and the U.S. have been suspected. The point is that this kind of attack does happen.
