Virgin only covers a small part of the UK - mainly cities and large towns. Some areas (including where I live unfortunately) won't be worth cabling for the foreseeable future. BT just installed "fibre to the cabinet" in our area, but bypassed the cabinet that serves our road because it is "not commercially viable". 300 yards away in the next street they have it.
