Skype, though owned by MS, is still an EU (Luxembourg) company so is legally required to keep call logs for at least six months (the law in Luxembourg may require more). This is the same (EU) law that requires ISPs, telecoms companies and other service providers to keep web browsing, email, IM, SMS etc. logs for the same period.
