The proper response might be for the Olympics to see a need for the service to assist ticket buyers and supply their own feed and thus eliminate the need for the bots.

Millions of bots could read the feed and nobody would care. Not only that, feed services out there would pick it up and relay the feed thus reducing their server load even further.

Being a bit of a die hard bot blocker I agree in principle with their stance but as a business operator I also provide unblocked feeds for that very reason, so the legit bots and feed readers can get what they want without needing bots to crawl the site.

Brains over brute force solutions.
