Talk about a stoopie. When I was first exposed to it, it was being pronounced "earl." simple. one syllable. or two if you tagged it with AN. not "A Yew-Are-Ell" but "AN EARL." The whole idea of the letters was to make it shorter to say, right? So why did some nutz take over the word and make it a U. R. L. instead of AN EARL? Dian Methinks it was that Amish Conspiracy thing again :)
