The biggest benefit "ergonomics wise" is to get up from the keyboard ON YOUR FEET for at least five minutes every 55... Better yet 15 minutes every hour. The query was standing to work and, as observed, there are some issues as regards that position over an eight hour day. The problem is the keyboard and mouse... they lock you into a position---whether sitting or standing---and it is the lack of MOVEMENT which causes the problems associated with circulation, muscle pain, or even joint deterioration. Our bodies were designed to MOVE and our health depends on MOVEMENT to burn off toxins, absorb nutrients and maintain optimal cardio-vascular performance. Even making small changes can have large benefits.
