When I was down in the Britsh Virgin Islands on a smallish boat of 75, all the rich older guys tried to out spend each other on the under 30 crowd. It's amazing what a little competition brings out in people :).
I lived in a tent on the beach in Costa Rica for a month, it wasn't so bad, but then again I wasn't working either... You can always go down to the docks where the tourists come to shore and hold up a cardboard sign. Maybe some rich couple will feel sorry for you and get you a hotel room for a month...
