If the keys get messy the best thing i have found is a tooth brush with mild cleaning solution. Brings them up like new. On the subject of keyboards, have you ever noticed how after about a year of use the "A" "E" "I" "O" "U" keys are the ones that are getting hard to make out properly. so it's true the vowels are the most common used letters.
I usualy just turn it upside down and drop it from a couple of inches on to the table top a few times. If it still needs treatment I just use the brushy thing from the vacume cleaner.. seams to do the trick ok. :)
