Here in Scotland we don't have much of a snake problem but a few weeks ago my mate showed me a picture of an adder that he had taken on the fairway of the local golf course. It was about three or four foot long - quite scary when you consider that an adder bite can be fatal.

But then we also have to cope with midges ;)
