---- Exchanging Business Cards at SEM Event

Dabu_The_Dragon - 1:11 pm on Jun 23, 2007 (gmt 0)

I recently attended a search marketing event in Chicago by a company that will remain nameless, but you have all heard of them. If I had to give this event a value rating from 1 to 10, I would say it was a 4.

What the heck right!? You go to a SEM event and you network with your peers. I have to admit that I don't attend many of these events. But to be honest, I love going because I normally get a re-charge of inspiration from being around my own kind. Search marketing geeks. I normally make many new friends.

At this event one of the speakers was a "g-man". When the event ended I did what I normally do, network. When I approached the g-man to introduce myself he gave me one of those, "How dare you approach me" looks. At this time my business card was hanging in the air icy cold. One of the other speakers quickly said, G-men don't exchange cards. Now I'm feeling like a complete dope. I didn't know I was dealing with 007. When did G get DoD Top Secret Security clearance and why didn't they have a sign in the conference room that says, don't feed the G-men business cards.
