---- What The Foo?

Hmmmm . . . I have always based the origins of the term foo from WWII flyboys phrase, who experienced odd flashes of static electricity along and offboard the wingtips of their aircraft, most often explained as a variation on St. Elmo's Fire.

Of course a lot of superstition and legend goes along with All Things Airborne as well as afloat, so there are many legends that these anomalies were "something else" - gremlins, ghosts, or even aliens. The pilots who experienced these anomalies and bravely took to the air again became known as Foo Fighters which is where the Seattle band got it's name . . .

Urban Legend? It's all a bunch of foo anyway, one good pass across the Internet puts the foo next to the bar . . . .
