there is a theoretical possiblity that google banned an adsense account due to click fraud that had nothing to do with the publisher. this possibility has worried me as a whitehat webmaster. discovering that every, or almost every "google banned me" thread has a real reason behind it is relieving.

There are some examples here on WW where there was no connection between the publisher and the click fraud. Suzyvirtual is the best known example of this. In those examples Google reinstated the account.

As probably only a small percentage of the publishers whose account is closed post in this forum, the current number of threads about this issue indicate that Google closes tens, maybe more accounts per day because of click fraud. As member of the publisher community I find this encouraging. Although we have no idea of the actual size of the fraud--20% as some sources say, or "minimal" according to Google--Google is trying to solve it.
