It seems to be a beta test. It works similar to how AdSense in email newsletters work - using a straight HTML code rather than a javascript.

I am pretty excited about it, and it looks pretty good in the various feed readers. It will be nice to have this ability to add AdSense into an RSS feed, and a good way for bloggers to monetize their RSS feeds.
