It doesn't really matter. And there have been some big changes with AdWords, and some advertisers are more sophisticated, and others are even more confused and accidentally may be paying too much. And enhanced campaigns for mobile become mandatory on July 22, and some people are converting now.
I've been with AdSense since 2005, but it has *never* performed consistently day to day for me. It's always been one day up, one day down. But I have been with AdWords since 2004, and the same thing is true there too (both with the search and the display networks) There are just too many variables to look at it day to day, some of which we might know or guess, and some that are totally out of our orbit. I try very hard (and don't always succeed) not to consider anything less than a month to be any kind of indication where things are going. Otherwise I'd be driving myself even more batsh*t crazy than I already am.
