That's a serious drop, HuskyPup,
And its made worse because it seems that Google doesn't care about the quality of original material. A time based index is actually a very simple concept in search terms but Google does not seem to have any way of detecting authority. Its famed link based PR was gamed to hell and back but they haven't come up with anything that really takes its place. Everything that Google does now seems to be a bish-bosh effort to throw any crackpot idea at the problem and hope it solves it.
The continuous exhortations from Google to "create good content" are beginning to grate. Then there is the completely banjaxed idea of some hamster of limited intellect that "links" are the problem and therefore unnatural links should be removed. (Many of these "unnatural" links are from Dmoz clone directories and some rather clueless SEOs bother directory owners asking that these links be removed from their directories.) I don't think that Google is Evil as such. But I do think that much of their vaunted intelligence is the product of good PR. It is Microsoft all over again.
And the CTR/revenue is still in the toilet.
