My solution to this has been to use only 300x250 ads, which for my site perform well on all devices. After trying different things, I eventually figured out a way, using nothing but CSS, to have my top-right-sidebar ad jump to the top of the content on narrow screens (instead of being pushed below the content, which was the problem I was facing with the top-right-sidebar ad on my Wordpress site). The results have been great, and since making the change our revenue from tablet/mobile devices has gone from essentially nothing to keeping up, proportionally, with desktop devices.
