Any progress, have you started the changing process? I'm considering changing my account country too, and I came upon a form in adsense support section:
https://support.google.com/adsense/bin/request.py?hl=en&contact_type=change_country&rd=2

It seems like country-changing has become easier(possible?). My only concern is the change in reliability of the account.
