The like button code acts buggy in older Firefox browsers occasionally too, it's not an IE only issue. I've seen it cause the box to open and close rapidly over and over again and there isn't much you can do to stop it besides closing the browser or clicking a link (but you have to be quick as the page is reset extremely quickly).

The OP "got lucky" because people were clicking on an adsense unit to "save themselves". The bug is serious, it essentially hijacks the browser.
