I've often wondered about this, not meeting up with people (I'm in the UK), but at least having 'contacts/friends' where you can bounce ideas of someone in a similar field (and ask those dumb questions you wouldn't dare ask on a forum).

I'm not convinced there really is an issue with giving out your website to those you know, seeing as your website is public anyway.

It is a lonely profession :~(
