Good you found the reason -- because there is ALWAYS a reason.

Interesting to know that Adsense now even monitors the comment spam, and will remove the ads if and when you don't monitor the comments. So sites with user generated content and those that attract comments need to be vigilant about the comments and make sure they don't cross the line with Adsense.
