We don't get anywhere near 1,500 visitors a day and do quite well. Quality, not quantity matters. In content, in navigation and in visitors.
And on a separate note, as long as even ugly, low-traffic sites make a little money for Google, they will not exclude them. Google looks at the whole; they couldn't care less how individual publishers are doing as long as the whole is making money.
