I have had a website relating to certain content for about 12 years now on various hosts. In the past few years I haven't really had the chance to work on it much and I wasn't as interested in it as much as I used to.
I had held off from putting any AdSense at all on the site for years, but was surprised when I did actually put a few ads on as I started getting decent returns straight away.
When the movie adaptation was announced I did notice a spike in my traffic and clicks, but I didn't really have the time to work on the site.
The release of the movie made for a huge spike in traffic the day before the movie came out with good returns since then. I have not really done anything myself to the site or any extra promotion.
I was originally in contact with the PR company promoting for the movie, but seem to have dropped off their radar. No real problem for me, but it their loss as most of the traffic to my site seems to be looking for a review of the new film adaptation (I have added one now).
I don't really know what to do with the site now. As I said I do not have the time or ability update the site to make it look all flashy plus it is not its own domain, just a sub-domain of my site. There is already a site dealing specifically with the movie adaptation of my content plus the official site.
Has anyone had similar experience working with content that has been adapated?
