In my adsense control panel, under my account/Interest-based Ads Preference, I've opted out of this change for now. I choose this option...

Do not show ads based on user interest categories. Visitation information from my sites will not be used to help create interest categories.

But my sites are still showing me webmaster related ads. When not working on my own sites I'm generally in a webmaster forum of some kind learning something new. I don't do much else with my work computer honestly.

Why am I being shown internet based targeting anyway on my sites?

Did I misunderstand the OPT OUT feature to simply mean I'm still going to be targeted but my site won't be used for data gathering? If thats the case EVERYONE is now interest targeted wether they like it or not right?

I'm not liking this, my traffic is primarily from search from people looking for what my site is about... I don't want to show them ads on some other subject because that's NOT why they came to my site.

edit: I turned the option off yesterday evening, when I first learned it had been running on my sites. 24 hours and counting now... how long before my site stops doing this?
