From Google's point of view, a site that got most of its page views from Google referrals might not be as contributing as much "added value" as a site that generated a significant percentage of page views internally.
That's an interesting thought.
Even if there aren't all that many page views per unique visitor, visits from sources other than Google, say MSN, Yahoo!, direct entry, referrals from other sites, etc, might be more valuable to Google since they may not be getting those visitors as Google search users.
