From Google's point of view, a site that got most of its page views from Google referrals might not be as contributing as much "added value" as a site that generated a significant percentage of page views internally.

Interesting. I would think just the opposite. With continual referrals from search engines/other sites you are getting unique views. As an advertiser, I wouldn't want my ads being shown over and over again to the same people, I'd prefer for them to have a wider reach and be shown to new people all the time.

At the very least, I hope that's the case, because my sites are such that there's really no reason for a person to keep stopping by. Their "issue" gets taken care of and they're on their way. Almost all of my traffic is unique.
