but it doesn't make others Luddites.
I was discussing the bars banning Google Glasses before it's even a real product and the public reaction to the technology, or as I called them, Luddites.
Just because my opinion differs doesn't mean it needs to get personal or reflect on whether or not I'm an Admin as I'm allowed my personal opinion about both the technology and the public reaction to it whether others agree or not.
Now let's continue the discussion on the topic.
You carried your computer with you everywhere you went? I thought laptops and tablets didn't come along until a couple of decades later.
No. Once word got out that I had one quite a few friends, family and neighbors dropped in to see what it was all about. When asked what it did, I calmly replied "it makes money" :)
They all have those computers now and just like cell phones which I also got before others, all those that scoffed at the need for mine in'90 all have smartphones today. Nobody understood that Fidonet thing and BBS stuff I ran in the 80s yet they all have internet today and wouldn't live without it.
Heck, it wasn't that long ago people were railing against tablets and now people are buying them in record numbers. Funny thing was I had an 8x10 Windows slate (tablet) computer on loan for a couple of months in '91 at Lotus and our software was enabled for what was called INK and handwriting input (which was horrible at the time yet it took 20 years before people to get them in droves. Was just a matter of time.
If you go way back to the early 80s a storage technology company I was working for had some of the initial read/write optical media devices and when CDs and DVDs finally hit the shelves the audiophiles went bonkers as their vinyl was assaulted yet CDs quickly fell to MP3s and it all sorted itself out and everyone has MP3s now.
When I say early adopter, I mean it :)
Sadly I don't have a clue anymore than anyone else as I've been out of R&D for a few years now and if I did I'd be under NDA so I couldn't say anyway LOL
However, this is the same old thing that something new, cool and disruptive has hit the market and everyone is painting it as evil before the ink on the spec sheet has dried.
They'll all have Google Glasses before it's over and probably play some sort of bar game using some cool Google Glasses app.
That's my prediction and I'll drink to it.
