You need to understand that having a 65%-95% search market is totally different from 15% or 2% (in some EU countries). One drives companies out of business, the other causes them a few % loss.

I do not think people in the USA appreciate just how powerful Google is elsewhere. In the UK it accounts for about 95% of all searches.
With that sort of reach they can do anything they want outside of the USA ... and they do. The sad thing is that here in the UK our politicians are too interested in scoring points off each other to appreciate where this is going.
I have been proposing a not for profit search engine in here for years and I have often been ridiculed for this but I sincerely believe that this is the only way forward. No commercial enterprise should have control of the World's information. </endrant>
