Sorry so many are down on advertising. I've made some decent change over the years, as a newspaper publisher and on the web.

Gotta say to those who don't want any advertising on the web, by taking away financial incentive, you'd also eliminate a lot of the creativity. Man's gotta eat, after all.

The real reason I came here was to point out how self-serving the headline of this post - Google Sees Display Advertising Becoming More Sophisticated - is.

Geez, we own Doubleclick, and guess what? Display ads are going to be cooler and better for you.

Whoopie! I sell books. Reading makes you smarter.

Checked out G's promo for display ads. They must think they invented the idea and nobody knows what it is.

Despite their sophomoric approach, having them preach the gospel of display ads is probably good for those of us in the business, so I probably shouldn't complain. Oops, already did.
