I was doing my usual this morning of setting my Yahoo fantasy football lineup when I glanced at a beer ad in the sidebar and noticed it was a personal message directed at me. It said that my opponent for the week had made a roster move and that I should buy beer while contemplating my next move, not in those exact words.
It named my opponent right on the flash based ad and was right that he had made a roster move. Personally I find this extremely creepy since it suggests a level of monitoring my actions. The ad is loaded at the same time as the page but to gather specific(and tailored for me only) on page information to serve up in an ad is pushing the creepy line. I don't like it any more than I like knowing it's happening even if the ad isn't tailor made to me personally.
The future - We're watching you, you didn't flush a moment ago, buy the flush buddy today and never forget again! yeah, pass.
