sorry for the dramatics but this myth has plagued me for the past few months; having designed a site using CSS positioning I just couldn't get everything to behave the same on IE6 and IE5.5(IE6 with no dtd in other words), I scrutinized Tanteks box hack model to the point of delusion and just couldn't understand the discrepancy. it just wouldn't match up. A while later I happened to test the site on an actual IE5.5 browser and it worked! all that pain for nought!
ergo, IE6 with no dtd is NOT equivalent to IE5.5
(and CSS positioning is not a new innovation to IE6 and shouldn't be thus dismissed)

I know I should probably have posted this reply elsewhere but that last IE6 'quirks mode' comment just pushed me over the edge, I had to vent my spleen on that one!
