Thanks for the advice.

I have now tracked the problem to the z-index properties.

I have a Spry menu bar with drop down menus. The menus were dropping down below the div located further down the page.

So I set the Spry Menu Bar to have a z-index of -1: that solves that problem but creates a another in that the hyper links in div below no longer work.

I have tried various settings but without success.

Please can someone advise?
