Thanks for your points, all good, the one about XHTML compliancy is a good one and appears in a later edition of the tipsheet. But that text you quoted pretty much sums it up, whether or not you use XHTML just now or not it starts good practice if you're going to use it OR it avoids some case-sensitive CSS selector problems even if you're not, it's one of those good habit/coding practice things.
