Sure, though it's not semantic. I suppose it doesn't really matter, though, since the source content hasn't really changed.

That was the approach I was going to suggest originally, but I don't think that's foolproof. Even though you may use an element that we don't see often, there's still the risk of running into one, in which case we'll be overriding styles on the page that we might not have intended to. Probably not an issue for a majority of sites, but not 100%, which is why I would suggest using inline styles instead.
