I have a table (in a form) with a cell where the user can enter a number. The client required that the number be divided into 4 fields with a maximum input length of 4 to make it easier to read. So instead of 1 text input i threw in 4 and shortened their width with css (gave a class to the input fields and then applied css width to that class).
The input looks as expected, the only problem is, the table cell stretches out unnecessarily in width as if it were counting with the original text input width or what.. So, there's my table, with the number input column about 3x as wide as it needs to be, and the rest of the columns being squeezed in so each cell has to take up more space vertically.
Any ideas why this might be and what to do with it?
