Yes, it would be much easier in php, however, I am moving away from php for ONLY those pages which require it. In the past I was parsing htm/html as php so I could include php code snippets in my pages and they would work. I have decided for a few reasons to remove this method so js became the answer.

...and, lets face it... how many people have js turned off these days?
